Hotel**** & Le Clair de la Plume gourmet restaurant

This is where the story of Les Maisons du Clair de Plume in Grignan began in 1999, with the opening of the Maison Principale by Jean-Luc Valadeau, founding director. The building, built in the 17th century by Monsieur de Grignan and formerly the home of the Chanoines, is nestled in the heart of the village at the foot of the famous château. Facing the majestic Provençal wash-house, the garden, through which you reach the hotel reception, invites you in summer to relax and enjoy your meals. This green setting is home to a variety of old roses, a special feature of the village of Grignan, which has been classified as a botanical village, and which embellish the garden from May onwards. Rated 1* Michelin and with a green star, the gourmet restaurant, whose menu is co-written by Glenn Viel***, offers local and seasonal cuisine. The 19th-century-style rooms are divided between the Main House, the Private House 100m away, and the Lovers’ Pavilion in the Mediterranean Garden 300m away, with its natural swimming pool. These private spaces are ideal for private events, seminars and meetings. With the Chapouton Farm, the Caveau des Vignerons et Produits du Terroir des Vignerons and the Caveau des Vignerons et Produits du Terroir, all within walking distance, Le Clair de la Plume makes up Les Maisons du Clair de Plume, a place where everyone can forget the noise of the world®.

A former canons’ residence transformed into a charming and comfortable hotel****

The conversion of the building into a comfortable hotel has preserved its charm and authenticity. Most of the rooms have retained their original purpose, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. “These architectural choices, the expertise of the craftsmen and the assertion of a personality all of their own” prompted the Michelin Guide to award the Clair de la Plume a Red Key among the top 189 hotels in France. The Michelin Guide rewards hospitality at our Hôtel Le Clair de la Plume in Grignan en Provence

The 19th century glass roof houses the restaurant.

Added in 2015, the 19th-century-style glass roof blends perfectly with the architecture and the evolution of the house over the centuries. It offers a luminous, spacious space in the heart of the garden to host the tables of the gourmet restaurant in any season.

Dining room and living room

A second, more intimate dining room, located behind the glass roof, has just a few tables. Ideal for privatization for a family event or business meal. The lounge, completely redecorated, is accessible at all times for passionate discussions, a digestif or a hot drink, or simply to get together.

Champagne buffet breakfast in the old kitchen

Breakfast is served from 8am to 10am in the garden, dining room or conservatory, depending on the weather. A veritable morning feast awaits you with a buffet of mostly homemade products: cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, assorted jams, honeys, a variety of cheeses, homemade compote, yoghurts, toast, Swedish bread, cookies, viennoiseries, homemade cakes (sweet and savory)… and Champagne!
Guests not staying at the hotel are welcome to enjoy breakfast on reservation.
Accessible to people with reduced mobility.

The entrance to the Main House

The hotel reception is open from 08:00 to 23:00. There’s also a boutique selling quality cosmetics. Local brands such as Durance en Provence, l’Essentiel en Provence… are at your disposal to carry the scents of Provence in your luggage.

The natural swimming pool in the Mediterranean Garden

Just 300 m from the Main House, in the Mediterranean Garden, natural swimming takes place in an old above-ground stone pool measuring 13 m by 5 m, with a depth of 1.10 meters. To the best of our knowledge, it was once used as a fishpond and to irrigate neighboring gardens. No chemical treatment is used to purify the water. To ensure optimum natural water regeneration, access to the swimming pool is permitted from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Le Pavillon des Amoureux, the perfect place for two in fine weather

In the gardens surrounding Grignan, it was customary in the last century to build small stone cabanons where owners stored tools and seeds, ate lunch and enjoyed a little siesta. Just a few decades ago, this cabin was still the place to be for gallant rendezvous at the entrance to the village.
It’s in this spirit that the Pavillon des Amoureux (18m²) has been completely renovated, and boasts every comfort. Located at the end of our Mediterranean garden, it benefits from a small garden with private terrace and an exceptional view of the village and the Château de Grignan.
Its distance (quite relative) of 300m from the Main House and its intimacy invite you to a romantic getaway.

The comfort of the Pavillon des Amoureux: a remarkable view at the foot of the Château de Grignan
